Product Management

A trip to the other side.

Summary

I am a designer first and would like to continue to focus there, but I do have experience as a product manager working to create and manage an engineering backlog.

Skills

Spec writing, story writing (e.g. Jira or Linear items), product strategy, engineering backlog management

Details

At Rainmaker, I was hired as a Lead Designer under the Chief Product Officer. But as the company steered away from web3 and into traditional gaming, I became the subject matter expert at our company, and had to start operating as a product manager as well.

By the time I left, I was responsible for a portion of our product strategy, and was writing nearly all of our specs and non-technical stories. Especially our last project, Survivor, was created and managed by me from start to finish.

Additionally, at Yext, my product knowledge often led me to take a more active role in spec-ing out new features. I was also responsible for managing the UX Engineering team's backlog for a portion of my time there.

Ultimately, I prefer the design side of things, but I feel the time spent as a Product Manager has made me a much better designer, and vastly increased my ability to work with engineers.
